Tasting notes: This white blend bursts with zesty citrus flavors, lemon and grapefruit lead the way, balanced by notes of white peach and ripe pear. Its vibrant nose opens with citrus zest, unfolding into layers of stone fruit and a subtle minerality drawn from slate-rich soils. Floral hints of acacia and honeysuckle intertwine with a gentle whisper of white pepper. In the bottle, three distinct vineyard plots come together: a 20-year-old Xarel·lo, a venerable 60-year-old Macabeo, and a youthful three-year-old Malvasia. This mix of young and old vines imparts a unique harmony and vibrancy from the young, depth and wisdom from the old. Naturally crafted, the result is a crisp, lively wine with a clean, refreshing citrus finish.
About the producer: Cal Xurriu, founded in 2018 by Paula Sandoval (chef patron at Jazminos in Bilbao) and Agustí Costa, is nestled in the hills of Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, near Barcelona. They focus on small, wild parcels in Alt Penedès. With deep respect for nature, vines grow freely among herbs and wildlife. Paula crafts delicate, soulful wines that reflect the land’s quiet beauty and the whisper of wind through century-old vines.
