DOMAINE THIL

Jura, France

Over a decade ago, Bérengère and Éric relocated to the Jura region in pursuit of new opportunities to cultivate and produce their own wine.

Possibilities they couldn't find in Éric's home region of Alsace. Their winemaking journey began in 2009 with 2.8 hectares of organically farmed vineyards, focusing on traditional Jura varieties such as Chardonnay, Savagnin, Poulsard and Pinot Noir.

For the Thill top priority is to ensure the harvest of healthy, fully ripe grapes.

Since the vineyards have always been farmed organically, all harvesting is done by hand, with no pesticides and  no or minimal sulfur added. Their vines, planted in 1976 and 1984, will never see chemicals. They will continue to be managed under organic farming practices, certified Ecocert in 2015. They also use soil management techniques, using clover and radishes to enrich the soil with nitrogen.

Total surface of the domain: 6 ha
